In Conclusion
At the time of publication the Lodge has increased its membership from its original 27 Founders to 50 Brethren. In 25 years 65 new Masons have been initiated, 67 Joining Members have been recruited and four Brethren have re-joined having previously resigned. In addition honorary membership has been conferred on 12 distinguished Masons. Nine of the Founders remain as Members and one as an Honorary Member, the senior subscribing Member being W.Bro. R.J. Dachtler P.Pr.G.St.B., P.M., the Lodge’s Founding Junior Warden. The senior Past Master is W Bro G.W.D. Stow P.Pr.J.G.D., P.M., who was installed in 1994 and the senior Honorary Member is R.W.Bro. B.C. Bellinger P.Pr.G.M., who was elected in February 2002.
Two of the Founders were Grand Officers, two Members have been appointed to Grand rank, one Joining Member was a Grand Officer and another was a Past Grand Steward at the time they became Members. Two of the Founders, W.Bros Ernie Calley and Charles Bailey and the Lodge’s Honorary Organist, W,Bro. Skip Attree have been appointed as P.Pr.S.G.Ws, a rare honour in the Province of Hampshire and Isle of Wight at the time they received the rank.
The Lodge still continues to delight its Members with a brand of Masonry that is unique to Airborne soldiers. It prides itself on the standard of its ritual and ceremonial and yet always provides a relaxed environment in which to enjoy the company of long standing comrades.
The Author is confident that the Lodge stands poised to move forward with confidence in the new climate of Masonic openness.
